HIMMELBJERGET / SKY MOUNTAIN


Himmelbjerget, or the Sky Mountain, has for many years been a popular destination for all people visiting the Lake District.

It has one of the best views in the entire kingdom of Denmark! From the top of the hill, 147 meters above sea level, you can enjoy the sight of our gorgeous lakes and woodland – the view will not disappoint you.

HJEJLEN


Hjejlen is the world’s oldest original coal-fired steamer in operation. During the summer, it and other tour boats in the Hjejle fleet sail daily from Silkeborg to Himmelbjerget and on to the small station town of Laven.

MUSEUM JORN


The Museum Jorn in Silkeborg is located in beautiful nature directly on the river Gudenåen. The museum was founded by Asger Jorn (1914-1973), one of the most important Danish artists of the 20th century.

The Art Center Silkeborg Bad never stands still. Here you can experience changing exhibitions of both Danish and international artists, who time after time transform the old spa “Silkeborg Bad” into an inspiring museum filled with surprises.

THE GIANT TROLL – STÆRKE STORM


The giant troll Stærke Storm sits in the forests around Ørnsø near Silkeborg, and takes care of the forest’s animals.

He’s hiding a bit, so you have to go exploring to find him. Start your journey at Art Center Silkeborg Bad and go up into the forest to the south.

AQUA Aquarium & Wildlife Zoo is a family-friendly discovery centre featuring northern Europe’s largest freshwater aquarium and a nature park with wild animals native to Denmark.

LAKE BATHS


Lake Almindsø near Silkeborg is one of Denmark’s cleanest lakes. There is no agriculture nearby or polluting drainage into the lake and it is a popular bathing lake with two large pools – Østre and Vestre (east and west).

SILKERUTEN / THE SILK ROUTE


When you walk on the Silk Route, you get ample opportunity to experience a wide selection of all that Silkeborg, and the state forests around, have to offer.

You come through a landscape that constantly changes from lake to forest and at the same time takes you past many of the city’s major cultural institutions.

SILKEBORG BIKEPARK


Silkeborg BikePark is Silkeborg’s MTB “playground”. The park’s different tracks are each marked with a color that tells you the complexity of the track.

MTB TRACKS IN NORDSKOVEN


Nordskoven has 3 MTB-tracks – one blue (9.4 km), one red (11.5 km) and one black (12.4 km).

GUDENÅ RIVER


Gudenå River is one of Jutland’s natural pearls and attracts a large group of tourists each year. It is possible to canoe all the way from Tørring to the outlet of Randers Fjord. In addition, it is possible to sail with motor and sail driven boats on parts of the Gudenå River.
