Take a look at the fantastic outdoor activities during the EuroMeet 2022 conference in Silkeborg, Denmark.
We have organized a variety of outdoor experiences. The experiences will give you the opportunity to visit some of the best nature areas and outdoor facilities close to the city of Silkeborg. And give you inspiration from different outdoor projects with different topics as well as time for networking.
Silkeborg City orienteering and team building
When: 4pm – 6.30pm Wednesday September 14th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Get to know each other
Difficulty: Easy
A very easy orienteering activity where participants in teams find controls in and around Silkeborg City. The purpose of the race is for the participants to experience Silkeborg city and surrounding area in a fun way with time to get to know your teammates. The team decides whether they walk or run. The controls are located at places of historical interest or spectacular places in the area. At some controls there is a short description of the place of interest, while for others there will be small team exercises, that the teams must solve in order to advance in the activity.
Morning yoga, swimming and sauna
When: Thursday and Friday morning September 15th and 16th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Wellness, Outdoor facilities and local volunteers
Difficulty: Easy
Experience the beautiful lake baths where thousands of residents as well as tourists meet to bath, swim and enjoy the outdoor facilities all year round. Start the morning with beginner yoga, a short morning bath and try the sauna where 1700 members is a part of the local sauna club. There will be a short presentation about how the municipality and the local clubs are working together to create a unique recreational area with the utmost respect for nature.
Children and families in the outdoors

What does a library and books have to do with an active Outdoor life? In 2021 in Silkeborg municipality the Public Library launched a new area of focus: The Outdoor Library. Following the Silkeborg Outdoor Capitol the childrens department of the library started to look into how the library could use it’s outreach potential to make the outdoor life more accessible to families.
Integrating training, rehabilitation and nature
When: Thursday and Friday September 15th and 16th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Rehabilitation and basic outdoor training
Difficulty: Easy
Experience how the local health center is working with outdoor and welfare. Physiotherapists will tell you about their experiences with outdoor rehabilitation and training. They will tell you about the positive effects in regards to recruitment of participants as well as the challenges they have met. You will be guided through an easy workout where you will learn about how the health center works with outdoor rehabilitation and training.
Trekking on the “Silke-route” and visit at Silkeborg Trailcenter
When: Thursday and Friday September 15th and 16th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Outdoor facilities, partnership projects, trails close to home
Difficulty: Easy to medium
Try the new trekking rout around the city of Silkeborg. You will experience some of the best nature areas close to the city with a local guide. And hear about how the route was developed in a green partnership between the Municipality of Silkeborg and the national Nature Agency. The walk will finish at the brand new Silkeborg Trailcenter where you will hear about the purpose and ambitions of the trailcenter and about how the trailcenter was developed in a partnership between local sportsclubs, The Danish Foundation for Culture and Sports Facilities, The Danish Sports Federation and The Municipality of Silkeborg.
Visit Silkeborg Bikepark and Silkeborg Tree Top Climbing

Difficulty: Medium
We will visit Silkeborg Bikepark and Silkeborg Tree Top Climbing. You will hear about our ambitions for creating a new recreational area in the middle of the city of Silkeborg. And about working with a private company in regards to both building a tree top climbing facility and making the facility available for local schools. You will also see Silkeborg Bikepark and hear about the development and potential of a mountainbike park in a city without mountains. If you aren’t afraid of hights you can try tree top climbing.
Mountainbiking on the local blue trails
When: Thursday September 15th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Health promotion, partnerships, outdoor destination
Difficulty: Medium
Join us for a mountainbike ride on the local blue trails close to Silkeborg. The trails are quite easy, but it is preferable if you have tried mountainbiking before. You will hear about how the local mountainbike trailnetwork has both promoted physical activity and Silkeborg as a mountainbike destination. The local trailbuilder association will tell about how they work as volunteers with developing mountainbike trails in partnership with the national Nature Agency and The Municipality of Silkeborg.
Kayaking and canoeing on the beautiful local lakes and rivers
When: Thursday and Friday September 15th and 16th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Volunteer sports club in Silkeborg
Difficulty: Easy to medium
Experience the beautiful lakes which surrounds Silkeborg and listen to the history of a canoe club from 1940. There will be af short introduction to the club and its activities ranging from working with beginners to developing elite rowers and planning large events and championships. Afterwards you will get a guided canoe or kayak trip on one of the most beautiful lakes in Silkeborg.
Discover the beautiful forests as a tourist on MTB
When: Thursday and Friday September 15th and 16th 2022
Topics to be adressed: Outdoor infrastructure and a cold refreshment
Difficulty: Easy
Experience the northern forest which contains variations in terrain and forest types as well as large beautiful moor areas with heather. You will ride through hills, around beautiful lakes, get a little taste of the easiest MTB trails and visit a lovely marina. The trip is easy, about 15 km and well guided.
Explore the Paper Tower from the 23rd floor
When: Thursday and Friday September 15th and 16th 2022
Topics to be addressed: Historical, cultural and natural landmarks in Silkeborg.
Difficulty: Easy
Experience Silkeborgs new landmark – the Paper Tower – with a beautiful view over most of Silkeborg. The roof terrace is located on the 23rd floor, 70 meters up.
When Silkeborg paper factory closed in 2000, the area became a new district. The Paper Tower is the last arriving building in this area and is was created with the surrounding buildings. The Paper Tower is located in the middle of the city with af wiew of several historical, cultural and natural landmarks in Silkeborg.
